The Regent's Group of Schools has 3 campuses: in Bangkok and Pattaya (Thailand) and in Norfolk (United Kingdom)
The Regent’s School Thailand
The Regent’s School Thailand is an IB World School (www.ibo.org) and fully accredited by WES - UK (Ofsted Inspectors) (www.wesworldwide.com). The school is also a member of both the Council of International Schools (CIS) (www.cois.org) and of the Federation of British International Schools in South East Asia (FOBISSEA) (www.fobissea.org) and is also recognised by the Diplomatic Corps in Thailand for their children.
The Regent’s School Thailand is a member of the prestigious Round Square Association, with its President, HM King Constantine and HRH Prince Andrew, Board Member, as patrons (www.roundsquare.org). All 61 Round Square schools around the world believe it is their obligation to produce well rounded leaders for our future global community. Round Square schools instill six values at the heart of what their students do, both within and beyond the classroom. These six values are known as the ‘Six Pillars’; taken in the 'right' order, their first letters memorably and appropriately spell out the acronym ‘IDEALS’, which stands respectively for International awareness, Democracy, Environmental responsibility, Adventure, Leadership and Service to others. Our sense of achievement as a School comes from translating these IDEALS into practical realities.
The Regents School Pattaya is at the forefront of holistic education and has been chosen to host the international Round Square Conference in October 2010. It is known around the world as a leader in education through community service, managing service projects around Thailand and overseas which many other international schools join.
There are over 42 nationalities at both Regent’s Thailand’s campuses but over 85% of IB students (Years 12 and 13) are international (mostly Europeans). There are many scholarship programmes including Global Connect, Diplomatic and Ministerial Connect and bespoke for Music at both of our campuses.
Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Imperial College London, University College London, the Royal College of Music London, Stanford, MIT, Wharton ( U of Penn), UCLA, UC Berkeley, the National University of Singapore and Seoul National University are among the prestigious universities which have offered places to our recent graduates from both campuses (in some cases with full scholarships). In October 2007, four (two from each campus) of our graduating class have been invited by the University of Oxford for interview one by the University of Cambridge.
We believe the key to our success lies in the quality of our teaching staff and their commitment to being excellent role models for all students. All our main teachers possess Qualified Teacher Status (‘QTS’). We place top priority on the recruitment of such teachers. Apart from foreign language teachers, all our teaching staff are native English speakers and nearly 90% are British.
The Regent’s School Pattaya offers full boarding facilities while the Bangkok campus’ Boarding House currently caters for girls aged 12 and older, mainly from Europe, with nearly half of our full boarders from overseas. A boys’ Boarding House will open at the Bangkok Campus in 2009. All boarding houses are modern, secure, comfortable, and equipped with networked IT facilities. Exciting developments are afoot: the completion of the first block at the new Rama 9 Campus in Bangkok will expedite the relocation of our Early Years and Primary School in August 2009. Our Early Year children will be accommodated in purpose-built classrooms with superb indoor and outdoor playing areas. With almost 99% of the second block completed by August 2009, landscaping the entire campus can and will take place, providing a fully operative swimming pool and excellent provision for playing fields and courts for all year groups. A major feature found on the top floor of Block One is a 1,000 sq m multi-purpose Hall fully equipped for use as a 1000-seat theatre, an assembly hall or a gymnasium.
There is a professional and effective pastoral system with firm and fair discipline. The Regent’s School Thailand has a zero tolerance policy on inappropriate relationships, alcohol, drug possession, pornography and bullying.
The Regent’s School UK
A signing ceremony held on 21st April 2009 in Diss, Norfolk, UK, sealed an exciting new joint venture agreement between The Regent’s School Thailand and what has now become The Regent’s School UK (formerly Riddlesworth Hall Preparatory School), an established UK preparatory school since 1946. Regent’s UK will in the immediate future enrol home and international students up to Year 9 (with boarding places available for boys and girls aged 7+). Subsequently in the future we are planning for its provision to include GCSE and thereafter GCE A Level or International Baccalaureate examinations so that it can emulate and derive benefit from the expertise gained in these fields by The Regent’s School, Thailand.
The Regent’s School UK enjoys a range of impressive accreditation. It is inspected by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI) and by Ofsted UK and a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS). The standards it has thus attained have enabled it to attract alumni of the highest calibre (of whom the late Diana, Princess of Wales, is among the most celebrated). Its provision includes not just an impressive track record in preparing students for Common Entrance & School Examinations to UK public & state schools but also a fully integrated and authentic English boarding school ethos with a homely, family-like atmosphere set in beautiful, scenic surroundings.
